Yanbian Satellite TV

Yanbian Satellite TV is a unique institution in Chinese broadcasting: the country's Korean-language satellite channel, serving the Korean ethnic community of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin province and Korean speakers nationwide. Its schedule broadcasts in Korean and Mandarin, mixing regional news, drama series and entertainment programmes, cultural content celebrating Korean-Chinese heritage, and educational programming. The channel plays an important role in serving one of China's officially recognised ethnic minority communities in their own language. Yanbian TV's official website, iybtv.com, publishes programme information and viewing details. It remains the only satellite channel of its kind in the Chinese broadcasting system.
